I had just parked the car and gotten through the elderly (and extremely slooooow) security officer as I raced down the hall to the triage room where all the commotion was coming from. I quickly fumbled my way through my camera bag with shaking hands once I saw the baby delivered and already on the bed. The room was filled with busy nurses and staff who hadn’t even gotten a chance to register Deanna in the system yet. On August 5, 2014 at 2:51am…while the nurse yelled down the hall, “She’s a rimmer! No epidural!”, sweet Caroline made her grand entrance into this world. The doctor followed quickly behind. She weighed in at 7 pounds 5 ounces and 20 inches long. She immediately stole her mommy and daddy’s hearts. Her big brother is pretty smitten with her as well-although his new rocket ship plays a very close second.
It was a complete joy and honor to be part of such a momentous milestone for the Hurley family. I thoroughly enjoy every second documenting the excitement, exhaustion and bond this family experienced in the first 12 hours of Caroline’s life. Happy Labor Day Deanna and Happy Birth Day Caroline!
